A Level Revision | The Essentials

Exams are fast approaching now. A lot of schools have broken up for Easter over the next two weeks so now is a good time to start revising if you haven't done so already. My teacher says that in the run up to your exams you don't have a social life. Over the next week or so I am going to share with you revision essentials, tips and organisation so if you are doing A Levels this year or thinking of doing them next year then this should help you.
One of the first things you may want is an A4 Popper Wallet from The Consortium. The Consortium is a massive educational supplies company that teachers use. I don't think you can order for your own use but this is something that can be purchased in other places such as Ryman. This was something given to me by a teacher that left. These types of wallets are great for keeping loose bits of paper, notes or things like that in.

Lined paper like this Pukka Pad from The Range is really useful for taking notes in class. Get one that has drilled holes so it can go straight into a folder.

If you are an arty person or like making bright posters to revise from, A4 Plain Paper would be great. You may be able to fit key information from a page in a book or whatever would help you and it could be hole punched into a folder.

Bright Flash Cards brilliant for definitions or formula's. You can write a key word and then flip it over to write the definition. I use them for three of my subjects, they're good for definitions, formula's and theorists which is what I need to learn most.
This is something else the teacher gave us; Lined Record cards from The Consortium. These are better for writing more information like strengths or weaknesses about something.
Post-It Notes could be used for writing down things you need to learn or go over more for a particular subject and sticking them on a folder for that subject or somewhere you can see it. You also may want to write useful information down or even reminders or exam tips and stick them around the house or your room where you can see them and it might help you remember things.
Highlighters could be used for highlighting things on revision pages, notes pages or things in a revision book that you own, best not to do it in a book you're just borrowing.
Flags and tags could be stuck in books to help you find a page or you can stick them on revision notes where it is most important.
A hole punch, obviously for hole punching paper to put into a folder.
You may be a fan of drawing grids or tables in revision or the subjects you do requires you to use a ruler.
Your going to need pens for writing. The stripy pens are black Biro's and the black ones are fine liners and roller ball pens. You may want to use coloured pens as well.
Folder dividers are great for separating revision or class notes in a folder.
For A Levels, the best type of folder is a Lever Arch Folder because its nice and big to keep all notes for a subject inside. I definitely recommend either a lever arch folder per subject or one for each unit in a subject. For example, in Psychology, there are 5 small topics for the year so I have one folder. For Business Studies and Sociology, there are two large topics per year so I have one lever arch folder per topic.
You are going to need some kind of treat to reward yourself. I have a Twirl and some Pringles but you can use whatever you want. For example, reward yourself with half a twirl when you learnt a list of key words or you can give yourself some pringles if you score well on a practise test.

So I hope this was useful for you guys who are facing A Level exams. Some of you may be doing GCSEs so some of these things may be useful for you as well.
