Prom Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Heading into Prom season, I decided to do a makeup tutorial for the occasion in case you are stuck for inspiration. This tutorial is a quite a dramatic look and uses two eye shadow colours with a soft lip and this is something that will suit everyone.
The first step is to make sure that your makeup stays in place all night by using an eyelid primer and a white eyeliner.
Stick a piece of tape against the eye at an angle adjacent to the outer corner and end of the brow so it lifts the eye rather than pulls it down. The first shade I am using is 'Carbon' from MAC which is a matte black and with a fluffy blending brush, I am buffing this into the crease and blending up towards the brow bone so it softens into a gradient. Fluff this all the way through the crease, and then use a flat shading brush and pat the black shadow at an angle on the outer half of the lid and blend with the crease.
Fill the rest of the lid with 'Naked Lunch' from MAC and keep blending the two shades together until you get your desired effect.
Transition the black towards the brow bone with 'Naked Lunch' and highlight under the brow with 'White Frost' from MAC to lift the brow. Highlight in the inner corners with the white to make your eyes appear more brighter and awake.
On the lower lash line, trace the outer half with 'Carbon' and the inner half with 'Naked Lunch'.
On the bottom water line, line it with a kajal or kohl liner and then smudge it very gently over the black shadow on the bottom lash line and blend so it doesn't look so harsh.
Line the upper lash line with liquid eyeliner and it is up to you if you want to have a wing or not, I chose to have one.
Curl your lashes and apply mascara and false eyelashes if you would like to.

I then did my face makeup and used Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation, MUA Whipped Velvet Blush in Rococo, MAC Bronzer in Golden and Essence All About Matte Fixing Compact Powder. On my lips I used Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil with Elizabeth Arden Lip Gloss in Precious Pearl.

This isn't the makeup look I had at prom, I had a very neutral eye with a bolder lip colour and just for a throwback, here are some photos from my prom:
