Marsala
A few months ago, Pantone revealed that the naturally robust and earthy wine red 'Marsala' is the Colour of the Year 2015. Marsala is an incredible versatile colour which is equally appealing to both men and women, suitable for a wide range of uses including fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors. It is flattering against many different skin tones and is a go-to colour for beauty. This earthy shade is a beautiful colour bringing warmth into home décor and the grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated earthiness.
Marsala is dramatically combined with neutrals, warmer taupes and grays and it highly compatible with amber, umber and golden yellows, greens including turquoise and teals and blues in the more vibrant range.
If Marsala isn't quite the colour for you, there are so many different variations of this colour including wine and berry tones. I went on the hunt for some makeup products in this colour range which can be used throughout 2015.
There are a few shades in the Makeup Revolution Ultimate Eye Shadow Collection Palette that will fit into this colour trend. These four colours can be combined for day or night time looks.
The MUA Cosmetics Romantic Efflorescence Palette is also a great palette for the colour of the year, featuring variations of the colour Marsala and the perfect shades to combine with.
Elizabeth Arden have done a great job of releasing berry and wine themed colours, including the Beautiful Colour Lipstick in Cassis, Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in Ruby Rose and lipliners such as Sugared Kiss and Plumrose.
Recently I have purchased a lipliner from MUA Cosmetics in the colour Brooding Plum which is also a great product to have.
