A Day in London

Earlier this week my Mum and I decided to embark on an adventurous day out to London. We haven't really spent a lot of time in London considering it is only a thirty minute train ride, and the last time we both went was either for a school trip or a work conference. It was something different we could do and despite the weather being a bit poor, we still managed to make the most of the day going around London.

We booked to go on an Open Top Bus, which is the Original Tour of London, for those of who interested. We hopped on the bus at Westminster Bridge and what should have been a two hour journey lasted about four hours due to the London traffic around Regent Street and Trafalgar Square. I was actually quite disappointed at the start of this trip as we didn't see many sights for the first hour or so, except the occasional glimpse of the palace guard parade at Buckingham Palace or a parade of bagpipers near Marble Arch. The majority of sights we saw were building work throughout the capital. The traffic was so bad, we spent about an hour crawling down Regent Street and then a further hour slowly moving down Fleet Street. When we did finally get off the bus at Westminster, there was not enough time for us to go on the London Eye or the Thames River Cruise so we headed back to the station for a Burger King and a sneaky visit to Lush.

Even though the traffic was terrible and slow, I still managed to snap some photos of London which I wanted to share with you guys.

The highlight of the day was getting off that bus after four long hours, but seriously, the sight of the poppies surrounding the Tower of London was absolutely incredible and seeing all the magnificent architectural work on the buildings that weren't being refurbished.

If you visit London and want to go sight seeing, I will recommend the Original Tour, despite the traffic it was really nice to sit on the top deck going past all the places London has to offer. I'll link the website here if you want to check it out or book tickets and also with every bus ticket you will get a free Thames river cruise ticket. This is what we were going to do but unfortunately, due to typical London traffic we were unable to do that this time.
