Pumpkin Carving

What is Halloween without carving pumpkins? You can carve pretty much anything into a pumpkin and when you put the candle inside and put it in the dark it can look so cool. I absolutely loved pumpkin carving as a child so I decided to revisit my Halloween childhood and carve some jack-o-lanterns (even though they were a fail!)

I bought these pumpkins and the carving kit from Morrisons. The medium sized pumpkin is 50p and the large pumpkin is £1.50. The carving kit is only £1 so it's a really affordable Halloween activity.
Using the broad tip pencil from the kit to trace out the shape of the lid. I went with this star tip pattern around the top but you can do whatever shape you want.
Then use the serrated knife to saw along the line. I actually used a longer and sharper knife because it was a large pumpkin and it was able to cut all the way through to be able to remove the top.
Then you want to use the scoop to remove all of the pumpkin innards. This is a gross part but it's important so make sure you have a large bowl to be able to put the seeds and the innards in. Then use the pencil again to trace out the outline of whatever design you want and then use the little knife to cut through.
My pumpkin carving was a slight fail, but at the end of the day it was really fun to do and that large pumpkin is actually a bit creepy...

What is your favourite thing about Halloween?
