Festive Season Sales Tips | 12 Days of Blogmas
When Christmas is over, there is only one thing on the mind of bargain hunters; Boxing Day Sales. In the time between Boxing Day and New Year, stores dramatically reduce the prices of their products to clear stock and to make way for new products in the New Year. I have found six shopping tips to eliminate the chaos during these seasonal sales.

- Avoid the 5p a bag charge
With this new government law in place, invest in some strong and durable shopping bags to take with you every time you go shopping and that way you avoid paying 5p for something you use once. I bought some bags from the £1 shop and I also have some different sized ones
- Decide where you want to go
Instead of wandering around aimlessly amongst other Boxing Day Sale Shoppers, plot out the stores you want to go to. It is more effective than dawdling around. Some stores may not even be open on Boxing Day, so be aware of when their sales start and their opening hours.
- Go early
The earlier you go, the earlier you can leave. You're also more likely to get the best offers first as the sales after Christmas are to clear old stock and make way for new things. It's also recommended that you look for next years Birthday/Christmas gifts as everything is reduced and it saves you money next year.
- Eat at home before you go
Think about all the food you may have left from Christmas. Make sure to eat before you go, another money saving tip, rather than eating out. Personally, I hate shopping before I've eaten, it makes me lose concentration. Also, take a drink with you to stay hydrated.
- Do you actually need that?
Don't buy something for the sake of it, think about if you'll actually find it useful. Is there a T Shirt with a 50% off sticker on it? Will you actually wear it or will it be shoved in a drawer with the other heap of T Shirts you have? Go to department stores first as they're typically more expensive and therefore have amazing deals on things that are actually beneficial; maybe something new for the kitchen or a lamp for the living room...?
- Shop online
If you cannot be bothered to go out in the hustle and bustle of Boxing Day and New Year sales, shop online. There's no rush to buy something online, you can sit in the comfort of your own home while browsing the deals a store has to offer.
What are some of your tips for shopping?
